With Darcy, I think she became unhinged a little when she didn't have Orion as an anchor anymore and I get her impulsivity and recklessness, oddly. is so annoying when it feels like they learn something from it, but only about 10% of what they need to be gleaning and it's infuriating, especially with Tori. But this cycles of the Vegas getting the upper hand, someone pushing them back down, they get back up a little stronger, some hurts them more deeply, etc. I don't know, maybe it's in purpose and we'll need all the extra fluff at the end of the series to understand? I hope so. I understand on some level why it would make some sense but it's bordering on silly now. The amount of text that could be purged from these novels could write an encyclopedia, and I'm uncertain if the author was just THAT into the story or was pushed to make it longer and more repetitive with the same plot points circling again and again for fluff because the publisher wanted that or something. They make the same horrible choices over and over without learning from them, act like absolute idiots, and make me wonder why I'm bothering with this series at this point. These characters are so astoundingly stupid for people with magic that it makes me want to bang my head against the wall in anger. I'm exhausted by these books at this point.
